Hastings Center Report Essay Contest

The Hastings Center Report 40th Anniversary Essay Contest
Young Scholars: Make Your Voices Heard!
Submission Deadline: August 15, 2010

Essay Contest

To mark the fortieth anniversary of the Hastings Center Report,
The Hastings Center is looking forward to the future of bioethics. Rather than commemorate the issues and authors that the Report has published in the past, we are asking the next generation what issues bioethics should address in the coming years.

We invite any college student, graduate fellow, or untenured professor in bioethics (current or former Center staff excluded) to submit an essay of no more than 1,600 words in response. Essays can be sent to us at editorial@thehastingscenter.org and should arrive by August 15, 2010.

Format and citation style should follow the standard submission guidelines for the Hastings Center Report, which are available at http://www.thehastingscenter.org/Publications/HCR/Guidelines
.aspx.

We anticipate publishing an edited collection of essays rather than a single, especially remarkable piece in the November-December 2010 issue of the Hastings Center Report. This isn’t a formal contest, and there will be no prizes or awards; just our gratitude for helping us move into the next forty years.
